We've built several Murphy beds over the years, most quite simple. 
This project, however, was a complete conversion of a garage into a studio apartment,
and involved building along a 20 foot wall an office, Murphy Bed,
and mirrored closet (yes, that's a closet behind the mirrors to the right of the Murphy!
 

Most Murphy bed projects are simply beds tucked away in a cabinet, about 15" deep in most cases.  This project involved bringing out the depth 25" to accommodate the depth of the closet and office area, so there was plenty of room to build the bookcases and lighted area behind the bed.  Looks Great!

and building your own Murphy bed
a simple task. 
 

This unit opens very easily!  The locks also serve as the legs, so by lifting up the bed lock and pulling down ( it takes about 15 pounds of pressure to start the pull-down, but once it starts, it's almost effortless!)  Once down, the bed is supported by the legs and other hardware.  Putting the bed up is just as simple.
