About the Artist:
Vincent Van Gogh was born March 30, 1853 in the Dutch village of Vicar. On the evening of the 27th July 1890 van Gogh went at dusk into the fields and shot himself in the chest with a revolver. With all his strength he managed to drag himself back to the inn; here he died two days later in the arms of his brother, who had hurried to his side. The life in between is one of turmoil, as during his lifetime his works were not well received, yet today his paintings are some of the most valuable in the world.
