Joseph C. McGowan is inspired by the mysterious forces and physics of nature that surround our lives...  passionately visualizing ways to capture her mystique and infuse it into each water sculpture.

            Using gravity and water, and working with acrylic and metals as his medium then combing fiber optics and special efx lighting, Joseph has created sculptures that give the illusion that they defy the laws of physics and trick the eye into seeing a new reality.

            Joseph is part physicist, artist and visionary, a renaissance man and a true artisan in the old world sense, working alone in his studio he has full artistic control over each sculpture making all of his works truly collectible as they document his career as an artist, one sculpture at a time. He takes raw materials and hand fabricates every piece of the sculpture, meticulously sanding and shaping it to form its seamless lines.  Joseph then takes the sculpture, a raw canvas to him, and begins to work his magic by hand painting each sculpture using a combination of modern technology and old world craftsmanship which give his works their unique characteristics.   Today few craft raw materials with the passion he possesses, a passion that drives Joseph to create works of art that are flawless.   

            For the finishing touch, each sculpture is signed and numbered by Joseph and comes with a certificate of authenticity. As an artist he is truly dedicated to take this medium to the next level by combining physics and modern technology.  The essence of which is to create sculptures that are soothing, captivating, and an inspiration to those who follow into the new millennium.

Commissioned sculptures

     Joseph works directly with interior designers, galleries, and art collectors to give insight to a project from an artist’s perspective.  When he is commissioned by a client the goal is to create a sculpture that accent the most sophisticated decor, to create a sense of balance and add harmony to the environment.

     This portfolio is of Joseph’s gallery collection and in no way represent his life’s work or accomplishments.  For he has been commissioned to work on a much more grandiose scale.  Some of Joseph’s more majestic sculptures are the centerpiece of their environment.  The sculpture that he considers his greatest accomplishment stands twenty-eight feet tall, it’s custom design allows it to free-stand in the center of a three story staircase.  This particular sculpture has four sides of water cascading down it; the sound of the water falling over this sculpture truly adds life and energy to the wide-open spaces.  Joseph also has sculptures in corporate headquarters throughout the United States. 

      As for this artist the book is still being written, and the story has yet to be told.  The story of an artist who asks you to challenge him and together to tap into the vast mind and inner soul of the human being, to create awe-inspiring beauty that will stand the test of time.
